First of all... I shall introduce myself. My real name is Audra Furuichi. I have too many names for my own good. On the Art Corner where I critique people's art if/when they request me to, I am known as "Selphie" or my real name. Okay.. I realize there's prolly a thousand and one plus one Selphie Tilmitts out there... but I really liked her as a character. *sigh* Then when signing on to #artcorner in IRC, I quickly found that Selphie was a taken name.. (D'uh....I know) So... I picked the next best thing to me, "Kitsune". Now... there's a semi-long story associated with "Kitsune".

To start off at the very very beginning, I was on a short summer vacation with friends to Maui. One of my friends is really talented with furries and she decided to draw all of us as animals she associated us with (or ones we wanted to be). One was a Lynx, another was a mouse, and then she came to me. We all sat and pondered for a while until she finally asked me what my favorite animal was. I thought foxes were cute, so she drew me as a fox. Ever since then, I've had this weird liking of foxes. o_O

I didn't think about it for a while until Lorelai asked us REFFs at the Art Corner to draw our self-portraits for our profiles. Since she didn't specify any sort or particular way of drawing or anything, I drew myself as a elf girl with a fox tail. (I also love elves, BTW...) Since I normally wear glasses, I added them into my design. I liked my self-portrait so much, when I overhauled my site from Ukyo's Ryokan to Through the Looking Glass, I used this character image as my page host/mascot. Because "fox" in Japanese is "Kitsune", I decided to use that as her name and plastered her all over my page. (See my Original Gallery to see the full Kitsune Gallery. *^_^*) In Japanese Shinto folklore, foxes are special spirits... like the "tanuki" (or badgers). Foxes, in these legends, are known to take the shape of beautiful women who cause trouble to mortal men. Thus, if you look up in some Japanese dictionaries, "kitsune" is also translated as "vixen". Now, with this in mind, the name and character makes a little more sense, yes? ^_^ When I started IRC'ing as a REFF mediator for the #artcorner channel, I took up the name "Kitsune" as my handle (since Selphie was taken..as mentioned above) and it really stuck.

Ever since then, I've been know as Kitsune, Kitsu, Kit...(please.. not to be confused with Keiiii *^_^*) So there you go, the history of Kitsune. ^__^ By the way... Kit's hair was originally brown.. it wasn't until I made that one gift-wrapping picture where her hair was really really red... and ever since then, it sort of stayed that color.. o_O; I hope ye feel a little a little more enlightened by all this useless information~! o_-
